Instead of trick-or-treating or wild costumes, we usually go for casual nighttime walks with friends to enjoy the eerie atmosphere. Then, on November 1st or 2nd, we visit cemeteries to place flowers on the graves of loved ones—a tradition across much of the EU, where this season is more about honoring and remembering those who have passed. But I have to admit, there's something I love about the American Halloween spirit, especially how, as Mean Girls puts it, it's "the one night of the year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it!"
